GIVE YOUTH A CHANCE TO FAIL BUT HELP THEM LEARN TO SUCCEED

The youth of South Africa is facing a lot of challenges and one of them is not being accepted in tertiary institutions. Tsoshong Youth Development Program based in Zebediela, Limpopo believes in African proverb: It takes a village to raise a child.

 

Tsoshong Youth Development is a program that is non-profit organisation which was launched in January 2022 and started operating on the 27th of April 2022. The entire programme and the day-to-day work is done under the supervision of the team management.

This program is made to empower the youth of Limpopo. This organisation offers the youth with many perspectives pillars which are comprehensive information with a purpose to eliminate poverty through skills development. 

 

Mr. Ledwaba Thapelo is the program treasure, who always ensures that everyone in the program gets helped with or without any financial assistance. Mr. Ledwada said, “We provide educational programs to the youth, mentorship, assist with skill develop, support to vulnerable youth and promote healthy lifestyle.”

Only the youth that has passion and dedication to some of the prearranged offers are the ones who benefit. Mr. Ledwaba said that they receive information which assists with youth careers and they notice that they are motivated by the results of the program. 

 

It has been recently announced by the program chairperson Ramasela Khumalo that they also do community service for program growth.

 

On of the member in the program, Nonhlanhla Mthethwa said that this program helped her to get accepted in one of the big University of Technology and got funding from NSFAS. 

 

She further explained that she was patient enough, hungry and looking for a better route to success in her career.

Community members had their views concerning the program as Mrs Hlengiwe Zono mentioned that she is happy with what Tsoshong is doing for the youth and hoping that young people will observe the world in a different way than years back.

 

Mr Ledwaba explains how this program assist youth and how they notice that they are motivated by the results of that particular program.

Taunted for my dark skin, I long hated myself and longed for a lighter complexion

My classmates mocked my dull skin and persuaded me it was a curse. I keep in mind getting bullied on the playground since clearly my skin coordinated the colour of the concrete underneath our feet. In my community, light skin was synonymous with beauty and social status whereas dark skin was agent of the revolting and unlovable.
